It’s awfully easy to tell people what NOT to do. It’s also pretty arrogant.
Christians live through Christ, at least we try, and that attracts attention and creates an opening to share your faith. Isn’t it better to try that instead of lecturing people who are often in deep pain and suffering?
Most people who say the things you quote (which are spot on) just don’t know what to say so they step in it. It’s okay to say nothing, just be there and provide practical aid if you can.
